TWAS the Week 49 of 2024
The Rundown...
1. Bitcoin 100k
In July of 2013 I signed up for an online course proctored by Stanford called "Startup Engineering". Part of the assignment called for adding Bitcoin payments to a web application. I remember thinking that Bitcoin was a silly concept and I sold the $1 or so worth of Bitcoin that I had acquired after tthe assignment. 1 BTC was approximately $100 USD at that time. Fast forward to 2021 and I still thought I would not have invested in Bitcoin, but there was a tinge of regret at what could have been. This week Bitcoin hit $100k USD and I am still just a crypto n00b.
2. b-a-n-a-n-a-s
A couple of weeks ago my children, reading the news captions on the family dashboard, alerted me that a banana had just sold for $6.2MM. It made absolutely no sense to me and I just accepted the jokes that followed as some odd thing that happened in the simulation we live in. This week The WSJ's The Journal podcast covered the background of the banana auction. While it still does not make much "sense", it totally makes sense now why crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun bought the art piece.
3. @mascunanabear's Autozam AZ-1
I have always been a fan of the kei car concept, which is ironic because I daily drive a full-size truck. If I did not have kids and lived in Japan I would definitely be rocking a Honda S660. I have followed @mascunanabear for a while because of his over the top Pandem 987 build, but what caught my eye was the Sprint Hart's on the Autozam AZ-1 he posted this week. I have always wanted to drive one of these and maybe the "EXCITING MICRO COUPE" Autozam should slot in above the S660.
